Welcome
Changing Behaviour is a project that aims to support change in energy use and energy services. We do so by applying social research on technological change to practical use. Our focus is on the interaction between energy experts and energy users: How can these different groups learn to understand each other better?

Changing Behaviour is an action research project. Researchers and practitioners work together to develop, test and refine tools for improved interaction that are sensitive to context, timing and the needs of different users and stakeholders.

Changing Behaviour is a European project that is funded by the EU 7th Framework Programme Energy theme (contract number: 213217). The project partners are from Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands and the UK.
CHANGING BEHAVIOUR organises a special session at the Berlin Energy Days
Thursday, 11 March 2010 19:17

berlin2.jpgThe Berlin Energy days will be organised on May 10-12, 2010, for the eleventh time. A total of 6000 participants are expected to this event. The Berlin Energy Days are inter alia sponsored by three German Federal ministries and organised by several intermediaries and local partners.

CHANGING BEHAVIOUR is hosting a special session at this event, called "Effizientes Energieverhalten: Auch auf die Verbraucher kommt es an!" (Efficient energy behaviour - it's the consumer that matters!). This session will involve presentations by Öko-Institut and Verbraucherzentrale Nordrhein-Westfalen on CHANGING BEHAVIOUR and other successful projects to influence domestic energy use, as well as an interesting presentation about climate networks from the city of Iserlohn.

Rating Expert Advice on How to Change Energy Behaviour
Wednesday, 03 February 2010 12:26

iStock_ratingXSmall.jpgThere is a wide literature on 'tools' and methods to change energy-related behaviour. This literature is reviewed in D5: Interaction Schemes for Successful Energy Demand Management. But how appropriate are these tools for intermediaries promoting energy efficiency and energy conservation on the local level?

The CHANGING BEHAVIOUR team has rated 19 of the most widely discussed tools. Our partners have pooled their experience to give their views on "what works where and for whom". A summary of this excersise is available in the Research Note icon Rating Expert Advice for How to Change Energy Behaviour (150.31 kB).
